CAPTAIN’S CHARITY DAY
Friday, 17 July 2015
The event raised £7000+ for Help for Heroes and the MS Society.
Members and guests played an 18-hole Stableford competition in good weather.
Extras included players gambling on hitting the 18th green, a putting contest, a raffle and rides around the estate in open-top 1928 Rolls-Royce Phantoms courtesy of the R-R Enthusiasts Club.
We enjoyed an excellent meal entertained by Phil Bennett’s passionate and hilarious after-dinner speech. This set the atmosphere for a very successful charity auction conducted expertly, with humour, by Dave Guppy.
Fines for charity were levied on gentlemen not wearing jackets and ties and The Dolls of Monmouth for their polo shirts!
I wish to record my sincere thanks to all who helped run the event, played and/or supported the day with donations, valuable auction items, prizes or sponsorship. The success of the day owes everything to you and to those businesses, restaurants and golf clubs that supported us.
