Wales has approximately 180 to 200 golf courses, while the United Kingdom has around 3,100. Great Britain and Ireland together have a high concentration of courses, with England having over 2,200, Scotland over 600, and Ireland almost 500.
The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club has consistently been recognized as one of the best courses in Wales and the UK. For example, it was ranked 14th in Golf World’s Best Golf Courses in Wales in 2025 and continues to rank highly in many other lists.
The course is set in the historic grounds of The Hendre, the former home of Charles Stewart Rolls, co-founder of Rolls-Royce. The Rolls (as it is known) hosts championship 6,733-yard layout, is praised for its tranquil setting and stunning views of the Welsh hills.
